Porter's Host Jalapeño and Salsa Contest At The Second Annual Dia Del Grito in Andrews, TX
The Andrews Hispanic Heritage Committee is hosting its second annual Dia Del Grito community event in Andrews, TX. They welcome the community to celebrate with them. There will be live music, food trucks, merchandise vendors, and several fun contests, including our Jalapeño and Salsa contest!
Our Brand Ambassadors in Andrews, TX, reached out to the Andrews Hispanic Heritage Committee, and together, they partnered to create these fun and intense contests for the community to partake in if they dare! Porter's is bringing the heat with their intense Jalapeno contest and challenging the best salsa makers in West Texas to show off their best skills.
Contest Rules
The contest is open to 18+ only.
There is no fee to register.
Each contestant will receive a container of whole raw Jalapeños. 20 to start more will be supplied if needed.
You may only eat. one pepper during the first 30 seconds.
After 30 seconds, contestants may then eat as many peppers as possible during the next two and a half minutes. ONE PEPPER AT A TIME.
Contestants will be disqualified should you be unable to keep peppers down.
The winner will be the contestant with the most stems after the time has been called.
The contestant will be allowed to finish any pepper remaining in their mouth when the time is called.
Should there be a tie, contestants will complete a 30-second showdown.
Contest Rules
A $10 entry fee must be paid at the booth. (CASH ONLY)
Contestants are responsible for making their own salsa. (MUST BE HOMEMADE)
Each contestant must prepare at least a quart (32 oz) of Salsa.
Salsa must come prepared and turned in to the booth. You will be given a number that will represent your contestant number used in judging.
Salsa will be judged on appearance, taste, and texture.
Cash and prizes awarded for most votes: Judge's Choice- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Salsa entries must be turned in by 6:15 PM to the booth.
Blind judging will be held at 6:30 p.m.
